Hardware and Software Requirements

ConceptBase operates on SUN workstations and x86 PC's under Solaris 2.4. Implementation languages are ProLog by BIM 4.0 [BIM90] (in particular for logic-based transformation and compilation tasks) and C++ (in particular for persistent object storage and retrieval).

The X11-based usage environment is written in TCL/TK with exception of the graph browser implemented in C based on the Andrew toolkit. The Java user Interface can be run on any platform with a Java Virtual Machine (1.1 or newer). We suggest to use the Java Development Kit of Sun which is available at JavaSoft's WebSite.

A machine with at least 32 MB of main memory is recommended for efficiency, other system requirements are mentioned in the Installation Guide.
