Dashboard for Social Network Analysis

Today we are living in the era of Web 2.0. technologies (wikis, forums, blogs, chats, etc.). One of the most significant aspects of  the second web version is the collaboration among users. Thus the web became social arena of communication. The information exchange serves as a link between uses; the connected uses form social networks. In order to analyze these emerging communities a technique called social network analysis (SNA) is applied.

SNA is one of the main research aspects of our chair. Different SNA-methods were already designed and implemented by our working group Metadata in Community Information Systems. In our new project CONTICI  we concentrate ourselves on the development of the tools which should provide to the users a possibility to monitor the communities they are participants of.

The idea of this work is to develop a dashboard for the community reflection. The user should be able to specify a community to monitor. The network analysis functions should be realized in form of widgets, each representing one SNA-method. Beside the design challenge of this work, a very thorough research on SNA-methods appropriative for the described task should be performed.
