In 1992 I started to support Missionary Benedictine Hospitals in
Tanzania to introduce computers to improve the hospital administration.
Since then I've been to Tanzania many times to continue and extend the
computer projects. Visiting various missionary places in Tanzania and staying
and working there for long times showed me a lot of the incredible poverty
and underdevelopment but also a lot of the fascinating beauty of Tanzania.
Luckily, I had the chance to visit some extraordinary places in Tanzania.
The Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and Zanzibar are some of them. Then,
in 1996 and 1997 the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD sponsored me
for 7 and 2 months respectively, in order to carry out field studies in
Tanzania dealing with the application analysis of health care information
systems and wireless communication systems in developing countries.
